Celebrity chefs travel to Hawaii for International Event

October 27, 2017 (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) –  Blue Ocean Mariculture announced today their participation in the 7th annual Hawaii Food & Wine Festival.  Celebrity chefs from both Hawaii and the mainland will be using Hawaiian Kanpachi as the centerpiece of their prepared dishes.

The Hawaii Food & Wine Festival showcases local fisherman, farmers and ranchers and brings world-class chefs to Hawaii to share their cuisine over a 2-week period with events on several Hawaiian islands, including Maui, Oahu & Hawaii.  Blue Ocean Mariculture will provide its famous Hawaiian Kanpachi to events on all three islands over the two-week festival.

Blue Ocean Mariculture is the leading open ocean aquaculture company in the US and its operation is located in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii.   The festival is a perfect opportunity for us to highlight our commitment to the 500 years of aquaculture history in Hawaii and share the local Hawaiian Kanpachi with special visitors”, comments Chris Kruse, Executive Vice President at Blue Ocean Mariculture.

Hawaiian Kanpachi will be featured seven times over the 2-week festival.  Celebrity chefs preparing the fish include David LeFerve (Fishing With Dynamite / Manhattan Beach, CA),  Floyd Cardoz (Paowalla / New York, NY), James Beard Award Winner Dean Fearing (Fearing’s / Dallas, TX), Mark Pomaski (Moon And Turtle / Hilo, HI), Shamus Alwin ( Azure Restaurant / Honolulu, HI) television personality Neal Fraser (Redbird / Los Angeles, and Walter Manzke (Republique / Los Angeles, CA).  “I’ve seen the Hawaiian Kanpachi operation up close and between the commitment to sustainable seafood practices and its special taste & texture, I am excited to serve it during the festival” claims Neal Fraser, award winning celebrity chef.
